28.01.2025 – 11th Municipal Sustainability Conference NRW

Municipalities as role models – sustainable action for a future-proof NRW

For the eleventh time, the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Agenda 21 NRW (LAG NRW 21) is organising the NRW Municipal Sustainability Conference. The focus of the event on 28 January 2025 in Gelsenkirchen will be on networking and exchanging ideas on sustainable development in the cities, municipalities and districts of North Rhine-Westphalia.

This time, a particular focus will be on the challenges of successful sustainability communication. Participants will discuss this in the afternoon with artist and visual utopian Jan Kamensky, among others. Oliver Krischer, Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, will also give a short impulse.

At the KommunalFORUM, eight good practices will be presented that show how municipalities are already working successfully on major sustainability challenges. The CATCH4D project team, together with the City of Dortmund, will provide input in the forum on ‘Climate Adaptation & Heat Protection’. Participants will gain insights from science and practice on how climate adaptation can be supported by thermography and heat mapping.
