Bye, bye, “Green Room” — this is what we take with us…

Our time of on-ground activities on the topic of “Heat stress in the city” at the “Green Room” is over – time to take stock: we were on the square in front of St. Joseph’s Church in the heart of Dortmund’s Nordstadt district almost every day for a fortnight. The weather clearly reflected our message: It was hot and we felt the heat stress in the city directly. It was a good thing that our “Green Room” offered a shady spot. We have…

…communicated a lot with citizens and informed them about the health impacts of heat and spatial heat hotspots.

…held many discussions to find out about and debate necessary and desired measures customised for Dortmund’s Nordstadt district.

…took a closer look at what helps, what is lacking and what is desired to alleviate heat stress in our survey on the topic of “Heat stress in the neighbourhood”.

…accompanied the diverse activities of local stakeholders (NachbarBude, Seniorenbüro Innenstadt-Nord, Seniorenbeirat, Familienbüro Dortmund, Umweltberatung der Verbraucherzentrale NRW, Train of Hope, Umweltamt Stadt Dortmund, dlze – Dienstleistungszentrum Energieeffizienz und Klimaschutz, Parzelle – Verein für interdisziplinäre Kulturprojekte).

A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved for these all-round successful weeks in Dortmund’s Nordstadt district!

We then moved to our new location on the SWISSLOG site in the Dorstfeld-West industrial estate for a further two weeks. “Heat stress in the working environment” was our focus here and we invited employees and employers to a “Green Break” in our “Green Room”. We have…

…informed and were able to identify some heat-stressed areas in the working environment.

…followed up with an employee survey to find out about existing measures and wishes to alleviate heat stress in the working environment.

…invited local entrepreneurs to a breakfast in the “Green Room” with the help of the business park management and they were able to obtain and exchange information on a wide range of climate adaptation measures in the business park.

THANK YOU to SWISSLOG for the hospitality, to the business park management for the support and to all the local employees who visited us in the “Green Room”!

…and another nice add-on: thanks to our funding organisation ICLEI and the ILS, we were able to donate some of our furniture to the NachBarbude Dortmund. We’re delighted because it will be used by local residents to linger, chat and take part in other neighbourhood activities.
