What is CATCH4D?

Rising energy prices, the reduction of CO2 emissions and the adaptation of public spaces to extreme heat are among the most pressing climate challenges in Dortmund.

With CATCH4D, our objective is to provide the city with the necessary support to in achieve its climate goals through innovative technologies and data products. The result is the first comprehensive three-dimensional thermographic model of an entire city, which provides information on the energy efficiency of buildings and urban areas and can be used to identify urban heat islands and cool (shady) areas.

The results of the data analyses are to be used to support specific climate adaptation measures in Dortmund. Property owners are given a quick insight into the thermography of their buildings and can be motivated and advised on measures to increase energy efficiency. Citizens can also find out about the most suitable (cool) locations for their daily activities.
